The husband and I were both off today for Independence Day so we decided to venture out to the hunting property that his family co-owns. We got on the road mid-morning and after a quick stop at Tractor Supply we were at the property by lunchtime. To say this place is in the middle of nowhere is an understatement:

Those are orange groves on either side of the dirt road

What did we stop for at Tractor Supply you ask? We got this:

For these guys:

5 baby cows down there right now!

The cows know we often bring them their cow-crack so we usually get mauled the second we arrive. Some of them will even eat it out of your hand:

Once the cows were fed we sat down and had some lunch on the front deck. I was in charge of packing lunch while the husband was in charge of packing the heavy artillery.

I thought the dogs begging at home was bad but having an animal that weighs over 1,000 lbs stare you down while you’re eating is a tad worse.

Brownie begging (the cow’s name is Brownie)

We could see it storming off in the distance so we rushed down to the pond where we have a berm set up for target shooting.

Husband got started with sighting in an AR-15 while I kept an eye on the weather.

A tiny baby alligator surfaced to see what all the commotion was about.

Go Gators!

Unfortunately the storm was getting closer so husband quickly shot some Tannerite (a binary exploding target) and then we headed back to the trailer.

Our (legal) version of fireworks!

We hung out in the trailer for about an hour while the rain rolled through then went out to play in the mud left behind.

This Jeep Wrangler is older than me! It’s a 1979 and thanks to all of husband’s tinkering, it still runs.

Just as we were getting ready to leave the husband discovered this gem:

Through the power of Google we discovered this is (or I should say was) a Hornet’s Nest.

And finally, to make this post somewhat fitness related:

A side effect of CrossFit: see tractor tire, do box jumps! Good thing it was chained to the other tire or else I probably would have tried to flip it.

I hope everyone had a great Independence Day Holiday!
