I always had perfect skin growing up. Rarely did I have the embarrassing zits that my fellow pubescent friends had. That all changed around the time I turned 22 when my face exploded in horrible acne. I’ve been to the dermatologist several times and tried several different medications of varying strengths. Unfortunately, everything I tried was either way too harsh for my skin (one med made my eyelids peel and I wasn’t putting it anywhere near my eyes!)  or was $$$$. So I turned to Clinique and gave their acne solutions line a try. My skin hasn’t 100% cleared up but it’s a million times better and Clinique is actually affordable.

I had a code for a free sample size of Clinique’s Spot Healing Gel from the same acne solutions line and was quickly running out of my essentials so I started an online cart. Sephora ships free when your order totals $50 or more and of course I was only at $45. So I did what any rational person would do- I panicked and texted a girlfriend of mine begging for suggestions on another cheap (but not crappy) item. She had just placed a Sephora order herself (I think we enable each other) and informed me that the Sephora brand lipglosses were on sale for $3 each. So I bought 3. 🙂 I couldn’t choose between the colors!

The goods:

Back Row: Clinique Acne Solutions clearing moisturizer, clearing bar and clarifying lotion. Middle: Sephora glosses. Bottom: Clinique Acne Solutions spot healing gel (sample), D&G Light Blue sample perfume, stila tinted moisturizer sample and Ole Henrickson herbal day creme sample.

Snuggles just HAD to have her little paw in the picture!

During my search for another item to bring my total to $50 I stumbled across the Smashbox powder eyeliner. Of course Sephora doesn’t carry it, so I went right to Smashbox.com with a coupon code for free shipping and a free sample and bought it there. I’m always on the hunt for a medium grey eyeliner because with my blonde hair, blue eyes and fair skin, black is just too harsh.

Smashbox photo finish luminizing face primer and soft focus powder eyeliner.

I got these yesterday and wore them both today. The eyeliner is perfect! I used an angled eyeliner brush instead of the provided wand and it goes on really quick and easy. It stayed put all day (with Urban Decay’s Primer Potion underneath of course). The jury is still out on the face primer though. By the end of the day my face was an oil slick and I’m not sure if it’s from the primer or the fact that it’s a million degrees out. I’ll give it a few more chances.

If you can’t tell by this long winded post, I have a slightly unhealthy obsession with makeup. When I’m not working out or lounging around the house bare-faced, I have at least foundation/concealer/powder, mascara and blush on. I do  more eye makeup when I have time to do so. Here is my makeup station:

A little bit of an eye sore (this is set-up on our entry furniture) but the husband tolerates it. He knows what I look like without makeup. 😉
